Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, is set to embark on an ambitious journey of innovation and progress with the unveiling of a master plan for Hudayriyat Island. This sprawling development, spearheaded by Modon Properties, is poised to transform the vast area into a leading residential and leisure attraction, solidifying Abu Dhabi’s urban expansion plans. Spanning over 51 million square meters, this mega project covers more than half of Abu Dhabi Island, making it a significant milestone in the city’s development.
Hudayriyat Island stands out as a pioneering project, both in terms of its size and area. The appeal of this transformative venture lies in its distinctive natural environment and prime location. President Sheikh Mohamed and Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, have provided the directives that drive this project forward, ensuring its alignment with the city’s vision for the future.
The island will feature residential communities offering breathtaking panoramic views of Abu Dhabi city and its waterfront. Nestled atop hills up to 50 meters above ground, these residential areas will provide a serene and elevated living experience for its residents.
The development of Hudayriyat Island will extend the coastline by an impressive 53.5 kilometers, including 16 kilometers of pristine beaches. This expansion will bring a renewed sense of coastal living to Abu Dhabi, further enhancing the city’s appeal as a vibrant waterfront destination.
One of the key highlights of the project is the array of new amenities and top-class sporting facilities that will be introduced to the island. These amenities will cater to residents and visitors alike, fostering an active and healthy lifestyle. The Velodrome Abu Dhabi and Surf Abu Dhabi are just some of the exciting additions to the island’s recreational offerings. Additionally, the project will boast a wide range of commerce and leisure facilities, the largest urban park in the emirate, and a 220-kilometer network of cycle tracks.
Hudayriyat Island has already gained popularity as an eco-tourism destination, with attractions such as the Bab Al Nojoum glamping resort, Marsana Beach, OCR Park, Trail X, Bike Park, and 321 Sports. The island’s reputation as an adventure playground will be further solidified through the opening of major sports centers, offering thrilling experiences to residents and visitors alike.
Jassem Al Zaabi, chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Finance and Modon Properties, emphasizes that the Hudayriyat Island development project aligns with the UAE’s lofty ambitions for future development. The project embodies Abu Dhabi’s futuristic vision for sustainable urban planning, vibrant communities, and a diversified economy, boosting the emirate’s competitiveness in all fields.
